the light hit the sugar cane rows from Jordan to Baton Rouge

when I was a child, trusting and wild, hittin baseballs at the park in town
My Dad he would pitch, and my dog would bring em back to the mound
But I got so ready to leave with cheap tricks up my sleeve now I miss it with all of my heart
and now I’ve got these memories in rows from Jordan to this distant coast
