Very Good 07:46
early in that morning, an alphabet of stars and constellations flung out like ink and with one voice began to plead, "look and read!" the eloquence of sunshine illuminated earth just like a scroll of salt and stone, of freshest soil, of ocean foam You speak one song, one Word and we feel what is heard the taste, the sound of a world that loves to tell, very good rivers filled with laughter watering the roots of heavy vines and dripping trees who freely gave their offering, "take and eat!" springtime and harvest beautified the banquet of the world with seed and leaf Your open hands for all that breathes You speak one song, one Word and we feel what is heard the taste, the sound of a world that loves to tell, very good in the heat of the day in the moonlit shade communion with one breath was made very good through the lilies of the valley I saw you and knew that we were one, but not the same of bone and flesh, reflecting frames we danced among the vineyards the fragrance of your skin was honey sweet and dark like wine, it flashed like fire the charge divine, "unify, multiply!" You speak one song, one Word and we feel what is heard the taste, the sound of a world that loves to tell, very good

about

We wrote this song for the Great Vigil of Easter at Church of the Resurrection. The music and lyrics were inspired by the reading of Creation, namely Genesis 1-2, Psalms 19/104, and the Song of Songs:

early in that morning,
an alphabet of stars and constellations flung out like ink
and with one voice began to plead,
"look and read!"

the eloquence of sunshine
illuminated earth just like a scroll of salt and stone,
of freshest soil, of ocean foam

You speak one song, one Word
and we feel what is heard
the taste, the sound of a world that loves to tell,
very good

rivers filled with laughter
watering the roots of heavy vines and dripping trees
who freely gave their offering,
"take and eat!"

springtime and harvest
beautified the banquet of the world with seed and leaf
Your open hands for all that breathes

You speak one song, one Word
and we feel what is heard
the taste, the sound of a world that loves to tell,
very good

in the heat of the day
in the moonlit shade
communion with one breath was made
very good

through the lilies of the valley
I saw you and knew that we were one, but not the same
of bone and flesh, reflecting frames

we danced among the vineyards
the fragrance of your skin was honey sweet and dark like wine,
it flashed like fire the charge divine,
"unify, multiply!"

You speak one song, one Word
and we feel what is heard
the taste, the sound of a world that loves to tell,
very good
